Tour Overview

This is a 12 day trip of Morocco which aims to provide clients an overall view of the differing landscapes and experiences that the country as to offer. Clients will get to trek in the Atlas mountains, visit the coast around Essoauria, spend the night in the Sarahar desert, visit a couple of the renown gorges and enjoy a final evening in the buzzing city of Marrakesh. The accommodation is of a generally high standard, where possible.

THE ITINERARY

25 April Fly in to Agadir
Collected by private minibus and guide and driven to the Ecolodge Atlas Kasbah in the Atlas mountains. A 20 minute drive where you can relax, take a swim and have dinner.

26 April After breakfast we will drive to Essoauria, on the west coast of Morocco, by the sea. The journey is just over 3 hours. Here we will take a coastal walk (on the same sands that Jimi Hendrix wrote Castles of Sand. We will stay and dine in the lovely Riad esprit bleu

27 April Today we begin the 3 day trekking leg of our trip with an early start and a drive of about 4 hours to the large lake at Ourigane from where we will walk, with mules to carry our bags, to our night stop, Ecolodge Ouirane

28 April After breakfast we have a 6 hour walk, about 11 miles, to the Azzaden Treking Lodge, above Imlil in the Azzaden Valley, accompanied by our mules and muleteers. Here we will stay the night.

29 April Today we have a 4 hour walk to the Kasbah du Toubkal where we stay the night. It takes about 4 hours, around 6 miles. High above sea level, the Kasbah du Toubkal looks out over three major valleys carved from majestic rocky mountains rising to over 4,000 metres.

30 April Today we are collected by our minibus and driven the Hotel Sultana Royal Golf in Tarmigt. A Journey of about 5 hours (150 miles). Here we will dine and stay the night.

1 May After breakfast we will drive to the stunning Dades Gorge, where we have time to stretch our legs with a 2 hour walk. We will stay near by in the Hotel Babylon Dades. The drive is around 3 hours, about 100 miles. A recent description of a walker: “ Beautiful canyon hike! We did it with a 1 & half year old in a carrier and it was easy enough. With the GPS and downloaded map, no guide is needed. If it hasn’t rained the trail is easy to see. Took us 2:30h + 30 minutes lunch break. Always sun exposed so bring hats, sunscreen and water”.

2 May Today we have a 4 drive (150 miles) to Erg Chebbi and then a camel ride to our tented camp for the night in the Sahara desert.

3 May In the morning we will be collected by jeep and transferred to our minibus for our drive to Tinghir. An interesting town with several distinct areas: old town, Jewish quarter, palmerie, ruined kasbah, ruined French fort. We will visit the Todra gorge and stay in Hotel Saghro. The drive is about 150 miles and will take about 3 hours.

4 May Today we have a 3 hour, 120 mile. Drive to Barrage Bin el Ouidane where we will stay in the beautiful Widiane Resort, above the dam.

5 May Today is our last day of the trip and we will leave the hotel early around 8 to take the 5 hour drive (300 mile) drive to the capital of Morocco, Marrakesh, where will stay inside the Medina (city walls0 in the charming Riad Rafaele for our final evening. We should arrive in good time for you to experience the city and shop in the sprawling, vibrant and colourful bazars.

6 May You will be collected by taxi and taken to Marrakesh International airport in time for your return flight.
