Our 4 Days Mgoun Trekking Plan

Our 4 Days Mgoun Trekking Plan is designed to provide an exhilarating trekking experience while caring for your comfort and safety needs. We have carefully crafted an itinerary that will take you through some of Morocco’s most scenic and unspoiled landscapes.

Day 1: Marrakech – Tighza Village – Arous Pasture

We will pick you up from your hotel in Marrakech and drive you to Tighza village, where we will start our trek. From there, we will hike through the Arous Pasture, surrounded by lush greenery and stunning mountain views. We will spend the night in a traditional Berber village, where you will get a taste of the local culture and cuisine.

Day 2: Arous Pasture – Aghouri Pass – Tarkeddit Plateau

On the second day, we will cross the Aghouri Pass, which offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding valleys and mountains. We will then descend into the Tarkeddit Plateau, where we will spend the night in a cozy mountain refuge.

Day 3: Tarkeddit Plateau – Mgoun Summit – Oulilimt

The third day is the highlight of our trek, as we will climb to the summit of Mgoun mountain, the second-highest peak in Morocco. The climb is challenging, but the reward is worth it – the stunning views from the summit are simply breathtaking. After enjoying the views, we will descend to the Oulilimt valley and spend the night.

Day 4: Oulilimt – Tizi N’Ait Imi Pass – Ait Bougmez Valley

On the final day of our trek, we will cross the Tizi N’Ait Imi Pass, which offers panoramic views of the Ait Bougmez valley. We will then descend into the valley, where our trek will end.

What to Pack?

To make the most of your 4-day Mgoun trekking adventure, we recommend packing the following items:

1.    Comfortable Trekking Shoes: A pair of sturdy and comfortable trekking shoes are essential for this trip. They should have good ankle support, a durable sole with good grip, and be well broken in before the trek. We also recommend bringing a pair of sandals or flip-flops for wearing around the campsite in the evenings.

2.    Warm Clothing: The temperature can drop significantly in the mountains, especially at night, so it is important to pack warm clothing. We recommend bringing layers of clothing that can be added or removed, such as a warm jacket, a fleece or sweater, a long-sleeved shirt, and thermal underwear. A hat, gloves, and a scarf are also recommended.

3.    Sleeping Bag: You will need a good quality sleeping bag suitable for low temperatures, as temperatures can drop below freezing at night. Our team can provide a sleeping bag if needed, but we recommend bringing your own for added comfort.

4.    Backpack: You will need a backpack to carry your belongings, such as clothing, water bottle, snacks, and camera. A daypack with a 30-40 liters capacity is recommended for this trek.

1.    Water Bottle: Staying hydrated is essential during the trek, so we recommend bringing a water bottle with a capacity of at least 2 liters. We will provide drinking water, but it is also a good idea to bring water purification tablets or a water filter.

2.    Sunscreen and Sunglasses: The sun can be strong in the mountains, even in the winter, so protecting your skin and eyes is important. We recommend bringing sunscreen with a high SPF, sunglasses with UV protection, and a hat or cap.

Our team will provide you with a detailed packing list upon booking, including all necessary items and other recommendations based on your needs.
